The Ten Commandments were given to Moses many thousands of years ago, to people who lived in a very different way and in a different country from ours. And still these rules are extremely important today. They help us to live according to God's will. Let's look at what they say.
1. I am your God and you must have no other Gods besides Me.
2. You must not worship or serve any things made by men as if they were God.
3. You must not speak the name of God lightly, unthinkingly, scornfully.
4. You must keep the seventh day of every week as God's day and do your usual work on the other six days.
5. You must love and respect your parents.
6. You must not kill.
7. You must be faithful and clean in your heart, mind and body.
8. You must not steal.
9. You must not say untruths about others.
10. You must not wish to take what belongs to other people.
